Key takeaways

  • Social media management in Perth ranges from a few hundred dollars a month (posting only) to several thousand (original content, strategy and ads).
  • The biggest price driver is whether content is created for you, with a shoot at your business, or just posted for you.
  • Compare an agency with the full cost of a staff member, about $5,400 a month for one Perth social media manager with super, before equipment.
  • Ask who makes the content, how much you get, who approves it and how results are reported before you sign.

Ask around Perth and you’ll hear everything from “$300 a month” to “$8,000 a month” for social media management. Both can be fair. They’re buying very different things. This guide explains the levels, what drives the price, what we charge, and how an agency compares with hiring someone.

How much does social media management cost in Perth? The short answer

Here’s roughly where the Perth market sits in 2027, based on what clients tell us they’ve been quoted and paid:

LevelTypical monthly costWhat’s included
Posting onlyA few hundred to about $1,000Scheduling posts you supply, or templated graphics and stock images
Content created for youAbout $1,500 to $4,500Planning, a monthly shoot at your business, editing, captions and posting
Content, strategy and ads$4,000+, plus ad spendEverything above, plus campaign planning, ads and detailed reporting

All of these are usually quoted plus GST. Ad spend paid to Meta or Google is extra.

What do you get at each level?

Posting only

Someone schedules content you’ve supplied, or makes graphics from templates and stock photos. It’s the cheapest option and it keeps an account ticking over. It rarely makes a business look better than it is, because the raw material is the same phone photos you already had.

Content created for you

Someone plans your month, comes to your business to photograph and film, edits it into short videos, photos and carousels, writes the captions and posts it. This is where most of the value is. Original content of your real space, team and work builds trust in a way stock images never do. Here’s what a monthly content shoot looks like.

Content plus strategy and ads

Everything above, plus a strategy tied to your sales goals, paid advertising, community management and deeper reporting. It suits businesses ready to grow fast that already have content worth putting money behind.

What drives the price of social media management?

  • Original content or not. A shoot, a videographer, a photographer and an editor cost real money. They’re also why the content works.
  • How much content. The number of short videos, carousels, graphics and photos each month.
  • Shoot length. A 90-minute shoot and a half-day shoot produce very different amounts of material.
  • Platforms. Instagram and Facebook together are standard. Adding TikTok or LinkedIn adds editing and posting time.
  • Community management. Replying to comments and DMs takes daily time, and is often an add-on.
  • Strategy and reporting. A monthly post count is not the same as a review of what’s working and a plan built on it.
  • Who does the work. A senior team in Perth costs more than an offshore freelancer, and usually knows your local market.

Agency vs hiring someone in-house

A full-time social media manager in Perth earns about $58,000 a year on Payscale’s 2026 figures. With 12% super that’s around $5,400 a month, before equipment, editing software, leave, recruiting and the time you spend managing them.

One person also rarely shoots, edits, designs and writes equally well. Most agencies give you a team (strategist, videographer, photographer, editor and designer) for less than one salary.

Hiring in-house makes sense when you need someone in the business every day: covering events live, replying to customers in real time, or running several accounts. Until then, an agency is usually better value. We compare the real monthly costs side by side on our Get Online™ page.

Red flags when comparing providers

  • They can’t tell you how much content you’ll get. “We’ll post regularly” isn’t a scope.
  • Everything is stock or templates. Fine for ticking over, not for standing out.
  • They promise followers, leads or sales. Nobody honest can, because sales depend on things they don’t control.
  • You don’t own the content. You should be able to use every photo and video anywhere.
  • No approvals. You should see and OK everything before it goes live.
  • Long lock-ins with no exit. A minimum term is normal. No way out isn’t.

Questions to ask any social media provider

  • Who creates the content, and do you come to us to shoot it?
  • How many pieces a month, and in what formats?
  • Who approves posts before they go live?
  • How do you report results, and how often?
  • What’s the minimum term, and what happens after it?
  • Do we own the photos and videos, including the raw footage?
  • Are ads, community management and stories included or extra?

Is it worth it?

If your customers look you up before they buy, a feed that’s current, consistent and clearly yours does a lot of quiet selling. The right budget is the one that gets original content of your business posted consistently, because consistency is what builds an audience and trust over months.

FAQs

How much does social media management cost in Perth?

Roughly a few hundred to about $1,000 a month for posting and templated graphics, $1,500 to $4,500 a month for original content with a monthly shoot, and more again once strategy, community management and paid ads are added. IROcreative's plans are $2,250, $3,250 and $4,250 + GST a month.

Is social media management worth it for a small business?

If your customers check you online before they buy (most do), a feed that looks current and professional builds trust before they ever call. If your customers never look you up, put the money elsewhere.

Is it cheaper to hire a social media manager?

A Perth social media manager earns about $58,000 a year, around $5,400 a month with super, before equipment, software and leave. One person also rarely shoots, edits, designs and writes equally well. An agency is usually cheaper until you need someone in the business every day.

What's the minimum term for social media management?

It varies by provider. Ours is a 6-month first term, because it takes a few months to learn what works for your business. Choose 12 months and we add an extra carousel every month.

Does the price include paid ads?

Usually not. Ad spend is paid to Meta or Google separately, and managing campaigns is often a separate fee. Ask how both are billed.
