Google Review Request Scripts

Copy-and-paste messages for asking happy customers for a Google review, in person, by text and by email, plus how to reply to every review, good or bad.

Reviews are the first thing most people check before they call. The businesses with the most reviews aren’t always the best. They’re the ones that ask.

The trick is asking at the right moment, making it easy, and doing it every time.

When to ask

Ask when the customer is happiest: the moment the job’s finished, the meal’s been praised or the treatment’s gone well. Not three weeks later in a newsletter.

In your Google Business Profile, click Ask for reviews and copy the short link. Save it in your phone’s text shortcuts so it’s always one tap away.

In person

“Really glad you’re happy with it. Would you mind leaving us a quick Google review? It makes a huge difference for a small business like ours. I’ll text you the link now so it takes 30 seconds.”

Then send the text straight away, while they’re still there.

Hi [name],

If you have a minute, would you leave us a short Google review? It helps other people in [suburb] find a business they can trust, and it means a lot to our team.

Replying to reviews

Reply to every review within a few days. Future customers read the replies as closely as the reviews.

Five stars:

Thanks so much, [name]. It was great working on your [job]. Enjoy [result], and we’ll see you next time.

Three stars or less:

Thanks for the honest feedback, [name]. We’re sorry [issue] wasn’t up to our usual standard. We’d like to put it right, so I’ll give you a call this week. [Your name], owner.

Keep it short, never argue, and take the details offline.

Make it automatic

Add “ask for a review” as the last step of every job, on your checklist or in your booking system. Ten reviews a month for a year is 120 reviews, which is more than most of your competitors will ever have.

Next, make sure your profile is ready for them with our Google Business Profile setup guide. Every Get Online™ client also gets a Google Business Profile refresh.
